What is Challenge Success?
For now, we'd like it to be a conversation. How do we (as teachers, students and parents) define academic success? Are we too focused on grades, test scores and academic performance? How do we ensure our young people are developing the necessary skills to become resilient, ethical and motivated learners? The folks at Challenge Success say, "Success is measured over the course of a lifetime, not at the end of a semester."
Over the next few months, our team will be sharing initiatives and special programming to launch Challenge Success at Wellesley High School. In the meantime...start the conversation!
On September 29th, a team of WHS administrators, teachers, parents and students attended the Challenge Success conference at Stanford University.
Over the three-day conference, we heard speakers, participated in round table discussions and worked as a small group to identify causes of stress and anxiety at WHS.
We started the important work of creating a framework to address these issues at Wellesley High School. Noted author/clinician Catherine Steiner-Adair delivered a tremendous key note address on "Media Rules: Healthy Connections in the Digital Age"
Dr. Steiner-Adair will be coming to Wellesley later this month to conduct professional development workshops with Wellesley teachers and administrators.
