Lifeguards Wanted!

The Jewish Community Center in Newton, MA and we are actively looking for lifeguards for the school year.

Must be American Red Cross CPR/AED and First Aid Certifies.  Up to $18 per hour.  Flexible Hours, including morning, weekday and weekends.

Youth In Philanthropy (YIP)

Youth in Philanthropy Wellesley

Priority deadline to apply is November 15; rolling admissions follow.

 

The Foundation for MetroWest’s Youth in Philanthropy (YIP) program is an experiential leadership development program designed to empower and educate local youth to become our community’s next generation of philanthropists – those who give their time, talent, and treasure for the common good. As participants of YIP, students learn about needs in our community, visit local nonprofits, and grant up to $10,000 to nonprofits benefiting youth.

 

This free, 17-week program is for high school students who live or learn in MetroWest. YIP will meet on Monday evenings, from 7:00 to 8:30pm, in the Kingsbury Room at the Wellesley Police Department. HOBY Leadership Seminars

Founded in 1958, HOBY’s mission is to inspire and develop our global community of youth and volunteers to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation. HOBY provides students the opportunity to participate in unique leadership training, service-learning, and motivation-building experiences, beginning a lifelong dedication to improving the lives of others. 

The 2020 MA HOBY Seminar will be held June 12-14, 2020 at Bentley University in Waltham, MA.  The State Leadership Seminar is only for sophomores.  Click here for more details.

 

To be considered please submit an essay to Ms Plunkett, Director of Guidance, by October 4th, responding to the following:

  • What do you think makes an effective leader? What are the qualities effective leaders possess? What would you hope to gain from the Leadership Summit experience? What would you contribute as a participant at the Summit?

 

WHS only has a few slots to send students. Your essay will be blind read by a committee of counselors. Selected students will be notified by November 1st

 

Please note selected students will be responsible for the registration fee, approx. $338.

Catie's Closet Ambassador

Catie’s Closet is a local nonprofit that provides clothing and toiletries to students who are living in poverty and experiencing homelessness. We transform unused space within schools to create ‘free stores’ that provide these basic needs with no limits and at no cost to the student. 

We are reaching out today to inform you of our newest leadership position encouraging student advocacy and participation. Our Student Ambassador program calls for students who are passionate about providing equitable opportunities for academic success. Requirements include hosting a clothing and toiletry drive within the school community, volunteer hours, and promoting our organization on social media.

Community Montessori School

The Community Montessori School in Natick is seeking three high school students to work as assistant teachers for our afternoon enrichment program from 3-6pm, for 2 or 5 days a week.  Great opportunity to gain work experience in early childhood education in a fun environment.
