Do you have a student who is up for a fresh challenge? For those who are thinking about a career in communications or simply enjoy writing, we have just the thing: the Boston University Summer Journalism Institute. For the last 11 years, students are taught by award-winning journalists, such as Pulitzer Prize winner Lara Salahi, who show them how to follow facts and get to the heart of stories affecting communities. From protests to town hall meetings to interviewing local and state politicians, our students are covering issues that matter in Boston and around the nation. This year, high school students also have the option of selecting a photojournalism track, taught by veteran photojournalist, Stephen Haines. He worked as a staff photographer, assignment, and photo editor for The Boston Globe. In this special session, he will help students sharpen their camera skills and teach them the basics of visual storytelling. No matter what session your student(s) select, they will not only learn practical skills, but they will also get a taste of campus and city life in Boston. Students have the chance to:
Meet with Boston University representatives to discuss the college admissions processExperience what it's like living in a residence hall and studying in a university environmentExplore Boston museums, historical sites, and neighborhoods during free time
Two-week sessions begin on June 22, July 6, and July 20. Do you know students who would be a good fit for the Summer Journalism Institute?
